Welcome again, to my new Just One Thing series. Each week, I offer you just one thing you can practice each day that will improve your creative output. As a newsletter subscriber, they come to you first!
Today’s JOT is a practice I call “W to the Third Power.”
When you sit down to work for the first time, before you begin, grab your journal or a piece of paper or your notes app on your phone, or whatever and answer these three questions:
1) What went well, yesterday? What are the things that made you feel like you accomplished something. No matter how insistent the blue meanies are that it wasn’t enough, COUNT IT! By the way, it doesn’t have to just be work, but do your best to focus on the things that made space for your work priorities.
2) Why did it worked? Why were you able to do that thing? Was it because you were more patient? Were you able to do it because you you adjusted to your energy? Were you able to do it because you got help? This is essentially a list of the tools and strengths you called on to move your work forward.
3) Where can use those same skills for what you have going on today? You have proof that you have the skills and strategies things that worked. Which means you have the positive vibe to get you into this project today?
TL;DR
What worked yesterday?
Why did it work?
How can I apply it to today?
