I’m excited to share some BIG NEWS (which I hope will bring joy to you as much as me)!
I’m happy to announce that after months of planning and discussion with my editor, I have finalized plans with Random House for an updated edition of The Professor Is In book!
I’ve been planning an update for TPII book for some time now—and now it’s happening.
I’m timing the updated edition for 2025, exactly 10 years after the first edition. I’m so excited!
There is a hard limit on how much I can change from the original edition (for various publishing reasons), so I am focusing my efforts on these 5 topics:
1) Right Wing Assaults on DEI and Tenure
2) PhD Mental Health Crisis
3) Inequities/Abuses faced by Marginalized Groups
4) Exodus Out of Academia
5) Prioritizing Health, Resisting Overwork
I’ve already asked my Facebook followers for suggestions on sources on these themes, be it article links or existing and forthcoming books. I value crowd-sourced wisdom across our social media channels. And with this book release, I’m eager to build out our online presence (especially the untapped potential on Instagram / Threads).
Do you have any sources in mind? Any links you’ve seen recently that relate to the above 5 topics? We’d love to read them. Just drop them in comments below, or if you prefer, e-mail us at gettenure@gmail.com, please and thank you.
You can also contact us about getting an advanced reader copy for review, as well as any media inquiries.

Do you have any idea of when this will be available? Ideally, I would like to assign it for my class this spring.
Lori, please read this blog post to learn more, https://theprofessorisin.com/?p=20682, and if you would do a bulk order of the old version on Amazon, I will come talk to your class! Just send me the receipt and email me at gettenure@gmail.com. I’d be SO SO grateful!
Lori, the audiobook is out! The physical book remains delayed. Find the audiobook here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FGDSGWBM?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_T3W65FVHH17G8DDSD738&bestFormat=true
