Creating effective job application materials is only half the battle. Make sure you are fully prepared for a comprehensive non-academic job search with consults about the following:
Building an effective job search process:
We’ll help you make a plan, identify jobs to which to apply, decipher job descriptions, and figure out what you might be qualified to do. More importantly, we will help you develop an efficient, low anxiety, sustainable system of applying for post-ac jobs until you find the right one for you.
Navigating the interview process:
The non-academic interview process looks quite a bit different than the academic interview process. Your coach will help you understand what to expect, what questions you should ask, and how to best prepare.
Practicing the interview:
Nailing an interview requires practice! Your coach will provide you with interview questions tailored for the role you are interested in so you can get some real life practice talking about your background, your experience and your skills. You’ll get clear and actionable feedback on how to improve your answers and your presentation.
Negotiating job offers:
Non-academic jobs fully expect you to negotiate a job offer, and we can help you understand how best to advocate for yourself. Learn to ask for and receive the compensation you deserve.
Transitioning into a new industry:
Non-academic jobs have an entirely different culture and set of expectations compared to academia, and it can be challenging to move between the two. We’ll help you navigate this big change, and can support you as you move on.
Q&A –
Your situation is unique and undoubtedly complex, and you may have concerns and questions about your job search that don’t neatly fit into the above categories. We’re here to help with additional coaching!
